BLACKPINK’s Lisa looks back at her trainee days on the first day of work vlog of Youth With You. The “Lalisa” hitmaker is one of the reality show’s mentors and shares her beautiful story from an aspiring dance to one of the most successful K-pop stars.
Lisa wrote a letter to the Youth With You contestants, inspiring them with her success story. It all began when she checked the applicants’ profiles, which brought her down to memory lane.
Lisa’s Advice to the Young Aspiring Dancers
According to Koreaboo, the 24-year-old star felt touched by the contenders’ stories that she couldn’t help but relate to their tales when she was only starting in the business. Some said they’d be lonely to be away from their families as they joined the competition, while others admitted to having low self-esteem.
So to ease their worries, she wrote a letter to tell everything she had gone through and how she had succeeded. Like these young aspirants, Lisa also went through training for about five years, assuring them she knew training was hard.
She also felt scared and went through hardships. However, it might even be harder for her, knowing she was in a country that spoke a different language.
She said,
I can totally understand you all because I’ve also been through that experience. When I was 14 years old, I wanted to be a singer… I left home by myself and went to an unfamiliar country to be a trainee. I went through high-level training and had to overcome the language barrier.
She tried her best to catch up with other trainees, who talked pure Korean. She also had to bear the thought of being away from her family that she couldn’t take it anymore at times.

“Sometimes I secretly cried in bed because I was so homesick,” she continued. Despite that, though, she worked hard and never gave up.
Thankfully, after five years of rigorous training, she became a part of BLACKPINK, who’s now known as one of the world’s most famous and successful girl groups.
“I believe you can do the same,” the Thai beauty added. So, she encouraged the Youth With You contestants more to keep going even if things were already getting tough.
She ended her message with,
“As you try to achieve your dream, you will encounter many barriers. However, no matter what you face, I hope you continuously move forward, and I will be here to support you.”

Lisa as One of the Most Successful K-pop Stars
Aside from being a member of the successful girl group BLACKPINK, Lisa also has a thriving career of her own. She debuted her solo album last year without leaving her band.
After that, she has made a number of histories and records here and there—even in the U.S., per Forbes. Her solo songs “Lalisa” and “Money” cemented her name as a certified hitmaker.
Lisa’s name has now stood out in the music scene—both in South Korea and abroad—making her hard-training days all worth it.
