Bunga Lalisa Named After BLACKPINK Lisa

On Thursday, Bangkok Post confirmed that a critically endangered flowering plant was named after the Thailand-born K-pop star Lisa, whose real name is Lalisa Manoban (birth name Pranpriya Manobal).

A group of researchers at Chiang Mai University's Faculty of Science was found in the southern province of Narathiwat. After collecting other samples, the research team — led by Thanawat Chaowasku — officially named it Bunga Lalisa.

Bunga means "flower of" in Thailand. It is a climbing plant in the Annonaceae family, and it now has the scientific name Friesodielsia lalisae Damth., Baka & Chaowasku.

The team's report on the discovery revealed that the Money hitmaker is a great inspiration to one of the researchers, Anissara Damthongdee. The student is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in biodiversity and ethnobiology at Chiang Mai University.

"It was named in honor of Lalisa Manobal, a famous Thai rapper, singer and dancer, whose motivation has greatly inspired the first author ― Anissara Damthongdee ― to overcome any obstacles during her Ph.D. studies," the official research report reads, per The Korea Times.

The Thailand Science Research and Innovation Office and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation supported the research team's study into the Annonaceae family in Thailand.

Lisa took more spotlight as Taeyang tapped her to become the next featured artist on his upcoming solo album.

Korean news outlet OSEN revealed that the female rapper would be featured in a song and appear in the music video. A source from Taeyang's new agency, THEBLACKLABEL, confirmed the report. It added that the album would be released in April.

Previously, Taeyang marked his solo comeback with VIBE, his collaboration with BTS Jimin.
