BLACKPINK Jennie revealed how she offered a subtle tribute to Korean culture through her 2023 Met Gala look.
The Solo hitmaker hit Met Gala's red carpet as one of the muses handpicked by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel. She wore a vintage Chanel dress during her appearance, and she complemented it with a hairstyle that honored her home country.

BLACKPINK Jennie Reveals Meaning Behind Met Gala Hairstyle
On Tuesday, Vogue shared a behind-the-scenes video featuring BLACKPINK Jennie as she prepares for the upcoming event. In the clip, she explains that her look follows the 2023 Met Gala theme, "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty."
The Kill This Love singer opts for simple, fresh makeup and clean hairstyle. She chooses to have her long and straight hair pulled away from her face with her hair braided into a headband. She completes her hairstyle with a flower pin.

"The inspiration for my hair was, we wanted to bring a little of our Korean culture and this braided hair reminded us of Korean Jeon-tong look, and of course, the camellia for Karl and the classic Chanel," she went on.
Her Met Gala came weeks after BLACKPINK marked its historic 2023 Coachella Festival performances.
BLACKPINK Jennie Receives Advice From Rosé
Before BLACKPINK Jennie attended the event, her co-member Rosé and 2NE1 member CL made history by becoming the first K-pop idols to attend the Met Gala. The On the Ground singer appeared at the event sporting a custom Saint Laurent mini dress.
As she became the latest BLACKPINK member to attend the gala, she told the reports before her Met Gala carpet debut that she received advice from Rosé.
Per Jennie, she was told to just have fun and enjoy the event. With that, she made it her plan and had some fun.
She also notably shared a sweet interaction with The Glory actress, Song Hye Kyo, at the event.
