Black Widow Trailer Has a Scene Directly Lifted From the Comics

Black Widow is going to be the first Phase Four MCU film, with a lot of fans curious about Natasha's past. We all know that she dies at the end of Avengers: Endgame, actually midway through Endgame but exploring her family's dynamic is pretty refreshing for the character. A lot of us will be watching the movie, just to see if some of these characters will live and appear in a post-Endgame movie.

Admittedly, Natasha's "family" isn't exactly comic book-accurate since Yelena is not her sister and Red Guardian was actually her husband. He seems to be married to another Black Widow so...that's sort of like the source material. Still, that doesn't mean the MCU will completely ignore the comics as Colorist Matt Wilson found a shot from the trailer that came from the epic Black Widow run from Mark Waid and Chris Samnee.

It's clear that the image is directly influenced by Waid and Samnee's run so expect to see their names on the credits. Honestly, it's a beautiful image and one that's arguably better in the comics since it allows us a close-up of Natasha's face as she escapes, though the movie's version is pretty cool, if somewhat standard by action movie standards.

Fans who are looking to do some research or get into the character before the Black Widow movie comes out will want to check out Waid and Samnee's comic run. It's filled with great art and fun dialogue that this creative team is known for. Check it out.

Black Widow will be coming to theaters later this year, on May 1.
