Black Widow Star Rachel Weisz Addresses Her Potential MCU Return

Oscar-winning actress Rachel Weisz made her MCU debut in 2021's Black Widow as Melina Vostokoff, a seasoned Black Widow spy who became a mother figure to Natasha Romanoff and Yelena Belova. The character also made it out alive by the end of the film which opens up the possibility of her return.

However, since the film's release, we really haven't heard any updates regarding Weisz's potential MCU return in the future unlike her Black Widow co-stars, who are all set to reprise their roles in the upcoming film Thunderbolts.

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Weisz was asked whether she knows about the future of her MCU character. However, she didn't give any promising update as she hasn't been contacted yet about returning to another project.

"I don't. No one's mentioned her to me for quite some time. I think she's still living with her pigs that she experiments on. She loves her pigs, they're buddies," she said.

While Weisz's return has not been set yet in the live-action realm of the MCU, she is expected to voice Melina Vostokoff during the upcoming second season of the animated series What If...? in the episode "What If... Captain Carter Fought The HYDRA Stomper?"

It is disappointing to hear that Weisz's MCU return has not been set yet. Besides being a talented actress, a lot of fans are curious to find out what happened next to Melina after the events of the film and we are not expected to see her in Thunderbolts or any other announced MCU projects.

For now, let's just wait and see for any news and updates regarding her upcoming return to the MCU. As proven by Marvel's recent actions, they are pretty much open to bringing back their actors even if it's as far as the earlier films in the franchise.
