Black Widow Legacy Featurette Delves Into Her History in the MCU

Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow has been a character in the MCU since 2010 when Iron Man 2 came out, and 10 years later, Scarlett Johansson gets to star in her own solo MCU film. Besides the Special Look that had just been released for the film, Marvel Studios has also dropped a Legacy featurette delving into the history of Widow in the MCU.

It's very interesting to see footage of Johansson being excited for her character back in 2009. Though Widow was only an extra in her first movie, she has since grown to become one of the most integral characters when it comes to the Avengers franchise. With Tony Stark basically dominating the finale of Endgame, it would be nice for Widow to get a proper sendoff, with some thinking that the torch will be passed to Florence Pugh in this solo film.

If anything, I'm interested to see what kind of story Marvel has to tell when it comes to Widow's past. While her story of an assassin-turned-good is kind of a cliché when it comes to blockbuster films, I'm hoping Marvel has some tricks up their sleeves to tell us a story that will be fresh and not too predictable.

We don't know if this is going to be a trilogy yet, depending on how it goes, but I am happy to see more of Romanoff in the MCU. After all, her sendoff in Endgame was pretty lackluster.

Catch Black Widow when it hits theaters this coming May 1.
