Black Widow Leak Says There Are No “Outright Ultra-Feminist Scenes” Like Captain Marvel

It looks like Black Widow might not have the same kind of feminist undertones as Captain Marvel.

Black Widow might be months away from its release, however, details about Scarlett Johansson's very first standalone movie as Natasha Romanoff has made its way online. Leaks from 4chan (via Cosmic Book News) have revealed a lot of interesting twists, and now, they reveal that Black Widow won't have any "outright ultra-feminist scenes" that made alt-right trolls bomb Captain Marvel on Rotten Tomatoes.

According to the leak, all fans are going to have to worry about from Black Widow is a scene where there are "some implied themes with all the Black Widows turning on" one of their own members during the culmination of the movie.

It's interesting to see how there are some Marvel fans that are afraid of the idea that Black Widow might endorse "outright" ultra-feminism when Marvel has been taking steps towards diversity and representation over the past few years.

Captain Marvel wasn't an overtly feminist film – critics' main issue with the movie was that Brie Larson's Carol Danvers seemed like an over powered superhero with very little emotional depth. However, we do understand how some might be concerned about Marvel forcefully pushing an agenda in Black Widow instead of telling a good story.

Still, whatever the concern is, we can't deny that there's been a lot of excitement building up over Black Widow, a film which will see the return of Natasha Romanoff after the sacrifice she made in Avengers: Endgame.

Black Widow is set to premiere on May 1, 2020.
