Black Panther's Michael B. Jordan Gave Shang-Chi Star Advice on Joining the MCU

Being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is truly a big deal but it could also be overwhelming for new stars. Luckily for Florian Munteanu, he got some advice from a good friend. The Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings actor just admitted that he got great advice from Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan.

Jordan and Munteanu might seem like unusual friends but the two met while working on Creed II where Jordan's Donnie Creed went up against Munteanu's Viktor Drago. Not surprisingly, the Chronicle star was thrilled to learn about Munteanu joining the MCU and immediately reached out to his former castmate.

"Well, obviously we talked about it. He congratulated me once," Munteanu told Comicbook.com when asked if he had been in contact with Jordan. He then revealed that it was Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton who told Jordan about his role.

"I think he first knew from Destin. They also have had a good relationship since they did Just Mercy. And then I think he knew even before me that I got the role," Munteanu said. He continued by stating Jordan gave him advice that he was already shared before.

"He congratulated me, but he never gives me instructions on how to do things. He always tells me the same: 'Be you and then it will all work out.' And that's what I did," Munteanu concluded.

It's great to know that Jordan is very supportive of Munteanu being a part of the MCU. However, it is still unclear if the Fruitvale Station star will reprise his role as Erik Killmonger in the future. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings also star Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Meng'er Zhang, Fala Chen, Benedict Wong, Michelle Yeoh, and Tony Leung. The film will premiere in theaters on September 3, 2021.
