Black Panther: What Klaw has been up to Since Age of Ultron

We were introduced to Andy Serkis' Ulysses Klaue in Avengers: Age of Ultron back in 2015, and now his villain is taking center-stage three years later in Black Panther. Apparently, Klaue has kept himself busy after he lost his arm, and Andy Serkis opens up about what the character has been up to.

Talking to Collider, Serkis explains:

"Well he's just basically been causing mayhem in the world, on minor and major levels. He's a smart guy in the sense that he's a businessman as well as an arms dealer. He manages to cover his tracks. He has a mercenary army that works with him in different locations all around the world and he's able to go down rabbit holes and appear in other places. He's got the smarts, but he's also a little whacked out."

When we're first introduced to Klaue, we find that he's been branded as a thief by the Wakandans, and Serkis comments on Klaue's relationship to the country. He goes on:

"He's got a very specific relationship to Wakanda. He's got a bit of a love/hate relationship with it, really. He certainly has discovered things about it that nobody else has, and we discover that in this movie. He's one of the few people who's been into Wakanda and he reveals quite a lot about it."

The way that Marvel writes its villains, they usually have a lifespan of just one movie, but with Klaue, we actually get to meet him in a different film, and he gets more fleshed out in Black Panther. I thought Serkis did an amazing job making Klaue quirky despite the limited screentime. I have my fingers crossed that he'll continue the trend of more memorable comic-book villains.

Catch Serkis as Ulysses Klaue in Black Panther when it hits theaters Feb. 16.
