Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Star Breaks Silence on MCU Return

The much-awaited sequel to 2018's Black Panther is another addition to Marvel's 2022 enormous film slate. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will bring back the MCU to T'Challa's home country again after three years. With the sequel moving forward without the beloved King of Wakanda, Chadwick Boseman, Black Panther 2 promises to pay tribute to the late MCU veteran.

The plot for Wakanda Forever is still undisclosed at this point. However, recent reports claim that the sequel will be the debut of two new Marvel characters, Namor and Ironheart, while Letitia Wright's Shuri will be the next queen of Wakanda and the next to wear the Black Panther mantle.

It's also rumored that the rest of the cast of 2018's Black Panther will be coming back for the sequel. Aside from Wright's Shuri, characters who are confirmed to return are Danai Gurira's Okoye, Angela Bassett's Ramonda, Daniel Kaluuya's W'Kabi, and Winston Duke's M'Baku.

Another character who just confirmed his comeback for the Black Panther sequel is Danny Sapani's M'Kathu.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Danny Sapani praises his Marvel family while also acknowledging Chadwick Boseman's absence. Sapani explained, “You know, [director] Ryan [Coogler] and the cast and the team at Marvel have just been amazing. We were very lucky to have such a family atmosphere. Obviously, without Chad it’s very different. But we’re gonna keep flying that flag, keep trying to tell that story because it’s just an incredible story and an incredible film."

Despite the changes, the Sapani believes that the sequel will blow everyone away, but doesn't completely agree with co-star Angela Bassett's comment about the sequel beating the first film:

“Well, I don’t think you can compare them, to be honest with you. I think we’re just going to keep telling the story and honoring the great man. All of the people that are involved with that project are very close. I think it makes for a great sort of company feel. So, I imagine it’s going to blow everyone away in the way the first one did.”

While Danny Sapani had a less relevant role in the 2018 film, M'Kathu is rumored to have a more prominent role for the upcoming sequel.

Some rumors are also swirling around that the sequel will revolve around Atlantis, which will be the first time ever to be seen in the MCU. Atlantis as the core of the Black Panther sequel might also point out to Namor's debut.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters on November 11.
