Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is still enjoying a dominant run at the worldwide box office and to a lot of fans, it was a well-crafted film that was a fitting end to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's fourth phase. Turns out, the sequel which is centered on celebrating T'Challa's legacy almost included a subplot between two of its pivotal characters.

Editor Michael P. Shawver recently spoke with Newsweek and revealed that Wakanda Forever nearly included a romance plot involving Shuri and Namor. If you haven't seen the film yet, there are several scenes that seem to tease a romantic connection between the two. Shawver shares that they even tested out scenes depicting the brewing love affair between them but ended up scrapping the idea altogether.

He explains: "I think what's really interesting is there were takes where there was some connection there...and at one point in an early cut we discussed like, 'Hey, do we leave it there? Do we just put it out there? Let's just add some complexity to the relationship.'"

I'm not saying I know better but I believe they made the right call by removing the romance plot in the film. It would have felt like a huge distraction to the message the film was trying to convey, not to mention Wakanda Forever serving a huge tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman.

That's not to say though that Shuri and Namor can't become lovers in the MCU in the future because clearly, there's tension between them. I wouldn't have any problems with it coming to fruition in the next project.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is still screening in cinemas worldwide.
