Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Sets Major Record for Its Disney+ Premiere

Last February 1, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever finally became available on Disney+ and fans worldwide were now able to either rewatch or catch it for the first time months after it arrived in theaters where it had a very solid run at the box office despite not reaching the numbers of the first film.

While we expected that a lot of people will check out the film when it became available on the streamer, as it turns out, it really was indeed an instant hit as Disney+ has announced that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever broke the record of being the most watched MCU film premiere on its first five days.

Disney did not provide the specific numbers yet, but it is still very impressive nonetheless considering the other MCU films that they have released in the past few years since the streamer's debut. It is evident that a lot of people were waiting for it to become available at home and watch it immediately.

This also comes as the film recently received five Oscar nominations including the Best Supporting Actress category for Angela Bassett, who is currently the frontrunner to win and has also set a record for being the first-ever actor to receive an Oscar nomination for a Marvel movie.

The film's synopsis reads: "Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye, and the Dora Milaje, fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia and Everett Ross and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda."

The cast includes Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Danai Gurira, Florence Kasumba, Lupita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman, Tenoch Huerta, Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Mabel Cadena, and Alex Livanalli. Ryan Coogler directed the film.
