Black Mirror Season 5 is Reportedly Coming This Year, and It Could Include An Interactive Episode

Netflix

The next season of Black Mirror could be returning sooner than expected. Season 5 of the hit sci-fi anthology series is coming to Netflix this December, Bloomberg reports, citing anonymous sources.

Bloomberg also reports that the streaming company is developing interactive "choose-your-own-adventure"-like specials, which would let views choose the next storyline in a film or TV episode. The report says that one of these specials could be an episode of Black Mirror Season 5.

As Bloomberg points out, Netflix has already experimented with interactive television in animated children's shows, and HBO used the storytelling technique with its series Mosaic. According to Bloomberg, Netflix wants to make the experience mainstream, and the company's upcoming Minecraft series, based on the popular video game, could be interactive.

Last month, the Black Mirror Season 4 episode U.S.S. Callister won an Emmy award for Outstanding Television Movie.
