Black Mirror Season 5 Adds Anthony Mackie And Yahya Abdul-Mateen II

It might still be a long wait for Black Mirror Season 5 but it looks like the next season of the Netflix series is going to be filled with big names. Avengers: Infinity War actor Anthony Mackie and Aquaman's Yahya Abdul-Mateen II have just been confirmed to join the show's new cast.

According to Deadline, Mackie and Abdul-Mateen II are the first two actors confirmed for Black Mirror Season 5. However, their roles in the Charlie Brooker series have not yet been announced.

We all know and love Mackie as Sam Wilson aka Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe flicks Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Endgame. Mackie also has several Netflix projects. He previously appeared in the streaming giant's sci-fi movie Io and will take over as Takeshi Kovacs' new sleeve in Altered Carbon Season 2.

Abdul-Mateen II is best known for his portrayal of David Kane aka Black Manta in Aquaman. He will appear in Jordan Peele's new horror movie Us and is currently in talks to play the titular role in Peele's Candyman remake.

There's a good reason why Black Mirror Season 5 has been delayed. After all, the producers had worked hard on the interactive movie Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and will have to take some time to refocus on the series itself. Needless to say, the upcoming season is set to be worth the long wait.

Black Mirror Season 5 has not yet been given an official release date. Nevertheless, the series is expected to return on Netflix by 2020.
