Black Manta Might Be Overpowered In New Injustice 2 Trailer

Fans knew Black Manta was eventually going to be added as DLC in Injustice 2, especially after the mysterious silhouettes were revealed. Previously appearing as an environmental interaction in the game's Atlantis stage, he has now been promoted to playable character, joining the roster this September with Raiden from Mortal Kombat and Dark Horse's Hellboy coming soon after.

His first gameplay trailer was revealed, and it looks like the Aquaman villain is going to be much stronger than anticipated. In fact, he looks downright overpowered (OP), being able to fly around his opponents with his jetpack and shooting missiles at them. Manta also has a number of short and long-range attacks, making him a deadly force no matter how the player uses him.

That being said, there is a good chance that some of his more outlandish attacks seen in the trailer will be unlockable abilities. Characters get experience points, level up and gain new abilities in Injustice 2, like in most RPGs, with 20 being the highest possible level. While Manta might seem overpowered now, there is a good chance that his better moves will have to be unlocked.

Injustice 2 is available now on the PS4 and Xbox One. The first batch of DLC can be downloaded now, featuring Darkseid for those that didn't pre-order, Red Hood, Starfire and Sub-Zero. All of the game's DLC can be bought in advance by upgrading to the Ultimate Edition for US$39.99.
