After being in the works for several years, Black Adam is finally showing in theaters this year with Dwayne Johnson set to play the titular antihero. For the past few months, we've been seeing some footage from the film in different promos which gave us a glimpse of the highly-anticipated flick. Ahead of its trailer release, we now finally have its first official poster.
The official social media account of Black Adam unveiled the film's first official poster in anticipation of its trailer release on Wednesday. They basically showed Johnson in costume as the titular hero looking sideways in a black background along with the tagline, "The world needed a hero. It got Black Adam," hinting at the character's antihero nature.
You can check the poster below:
While the poster didn't show us a lot, it is still awesome to see our glimpse at the antihero character who is finally making his way into the DCEU and they are also highlighting Johnson as the face of the character. It is obvious that the marketing team is relying on Johnson's stardom and persona since the character is not recognizable yet to the general audience.
It is exciting to see what they have in store in the official trailer where they are going to give us a taste of Johnson in action as Black Adam as well as the Justice Society of America, who is expected to have a major role in the film as well.
The film's logline reads: "Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world."
