Despite being in developmental hell for years, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson didn't stop working on his standalone Black Adam film which marks his comic book film debut, and now, we're finally going to be able to witness the epic arrival of Teth Adam aka the Man in Black in the DC Extended Universe. The project finally began production earlier this year and as it stands, every important detail about the film still remains under wraps.

Taking to Instagram, the former wrestler-turned-Hollywood-megastar gave fans a major update with regard to Black Adam's production. Apparently, the project is down to its final week of filming, and "The Great One" is beyond ecstatic that the film will finally enter post-production after years of development.

Showing off his godlike physique, Johnson wrote: "Back to work. This is our final week of production for the filming of BLACK ADAM. I can't thank you guys enough for all your support. Grateful. Truly. Almost two years of hardcore, intense training, diet, character prep, and execution.

You've been right there rockin' with me all this time. And now it's my turn and I hope to deliver the definitive antihero you deserve. The hierarchy of power in the DC UNIVERSE is about to change."

We still don't know for sure what "changes" Black Adam will bring to the DCEU or if his arrival will cause a massive change at all but if it came from The Rock himself, I'll definitely take his word for it. One thing's for sure, the DC film franchise just got a massive upgrade with the involvement of one of Hollywood's most charismatic stars. I'm more than pumped to see what he actually brings to the table.

Black Adam hits cinemas in 2022.
