Black Adam Producer Hypes Up the JSA and Hawkman

While we don't know the official status of the Justice League in the current DCEU timeline, the Black Adam movie is going to be giving us the Justice Society of America a.k.a. The JSA. We don't have much details on how they factor into the story, but producer Hiram Garcia hypes up the other DC super group, especially Hawkman.

Talking to Collider, Garcia explains:

"We are so excited to introduce the Justice Society, especially Hawkman who's such a beloved character and one of those heroes who's always meant so much to the DC universe. Having them play in the same sandbox as Black Adam is going to be fantastic, and for the already established fans of these characters I think they are going to be really excited to see what elements from classic storylines we take inspiration from as we bring these characters together."

While a lot of people were thinking the film was going to be a period piece, Black Adam is actually said to take place in the present day. We still have no idea about how or why the JSA is formed, but we do know that we'll be meeting new heroes Atom Smasher, Cyclone, Hawkman, and Doctor Fate. Garcia continues:

"… When you take a powerhouse like Black Adam and inject him into this DC cinematic universe you want to make sure you are putting characters around him that can really up the stakes. As DJ likes to say the hierarchy of power in the DC universe really is going to change so Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher and Cyclone will have their hands full no matter how we choose to have them interact with Black Adam."

While it has been said that Adam is more of a misunderstood hero, I'm actually open to DC giving us someone who is more a villain than a hero. After all, this is a nemesis of Shazam we're talking about. I would be kind of annoyed if the Rock just ended up playing another version of ‘friendly muscle man'. With Shazam being Superman as a kid, I'd love for Adam to be a no-nonsense, battle-hardened Superman.

Black Adam is set for a release on Dec. 22, 2021.
