Now that it is available on VOD platforms and it is at the end of its theatrical run, Black Adam is expected to come to HBO Max imminently and fans will finally have a chance to rewatch the film all over again or watch it for the first time to those who haven't seen it on the big screen. Now, we finally know when will the film finally arrive to the streamer.
HBO Max has announced that Black Adam is set to arrive on Friday, December 16 which is a week from today. Its premiere on the streamer comes almost two months after it arrived in theaters and three weeks after it became available for rental on VOD platforms.
The film's synopsis reads: "In ancient Kahndaq, Teth Adam was bestowed the almighty powers of the gods. After using these powers for vengeance, he was imprisoned, becoming Black Adam. Nearly 5,000 years have passed and Black Adam has gone from man, to myth, to legend. Now released, his unique form of justice, born out of rage, is challenged by modern day heroes who form the Justice Society: Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher and Cyclone."
The cast includes Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, Mo Amer, Bodhi Sabongui, and Pierce Brosnan. It also featured appearances from Djimon Hounsou, Viola Davis, Jennifer Holland, and Henry Cavill.
Jaume Collet-Serra directed the film from a screenplay written by Adam Sztykiel and Rory Haines & Sohrab Noshirvani. Johnson also served as one of the producers alongside Beau Flynn, Hiram Garcia, and Dany Garcia.
It is great to hear that we finally have the date on the film's HBO Max release since some fans have been looking forward to rewatching it on the streamer and relieving the change of the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe. While the box office results might be disappointing, perhaps it will be a bigger hit on streaming.
