The post-credits scene of Black Adam featured the glorious return of Henry Cavill's Superman which excites fans who have been looking forward to his return for years. However, as it turns out, there was actually supposed to be another one that would have addressed the future of one of its main characters.
According to The Direct, Black Adam filmed a second post-credits scene that would have addressed Doctor Fate's future in the DCU. However, as we all know, it ended up getting deleted with Cavill's scene as the only stinger included in the film's final cut.
The report claimed that the deleted post-credits scene would have taken place during the day in a sandy location where Doctor Fate's helmet is sitting atop the sand. A hand would then pick up the helmet before the scene cuts to black, leaving a mystery on the identity of the character.
Since Doctor Fate died during the climactic battle, it looks like this deleted scene would have hinted that the character is still alive somewhere in the DCU. However, considering that it was cut out, Doctor Fate still remains to be dead in the current canon unless they'll resurrect him in a future project.
The character's future in the DCU has been a subject of conversation despite his death during the film. Pierce Brosnan recently revealed in an interview that "the door is open" for him to return while Dwayne Johnson tweeted that the character will return although he didn't mention any specifics.
Either way, based on the deleted scene and their comments after the release of the film, it looks like signs are pointing towards an optimistic future for Doctor Fate in the DCU and it looks like we really have not seen the last of the character despite what the film showed otherwise.
