Black Adam Aiming to Start Production Fall of 2019

Shazam! may be coming out next year, but it's been confirmed that we won't get an appearance from Shazam's nemesis Black Adam. Instead, Adam is set to have his own movie, and production is said to be aiming a start late 2019.

According to GWW (formerly Omega Underground), the delay is because of Dwayne Johnson's immensely busy schedule. For now, The Rock is working on Jungle Cruise for Disney, but after that, he still has to work on the Fast and Furious spinoff, the Jumanji sequel, then something called Red Notice.

It is interesting to note that Adam has also been rumored to be the villain for Suicide Squad 2, but so far, there haven't been any updates on that film.

Seeing that Adam's origin is so closely tied to that of Shazam, I don't think it's completely impossible for him to make an appearance in next year's movie. At best, we could get a mention of Adam's name, or maybe some CGI teaser of him via exposition by the Wizard. It's also possible that the origin of Dr. Sivana's (Mark Strong) powers also come from Black Adam.

No release date has been announced for Black Adam, but hopefully we get some solid updates after Shazam! releases next year April 5, 2019.
