Birds of Prey Set Photos Confirm Harley's Pet Hyenas and Bernie the Beaver

Birds of Prey is currently undergoing production, and fans have been able to spot a lot of easter eggs and references to the comics already. Just in, we may have confirmation on Harley's pet hyenas (Bud and Lou), plus the appearance of her lesser known ‘pet', Bernie the Beaver.

Check out these photos:

Besides Harley walking around with a giant bag of dog food, we also have her standing in what looks to be a veterinary clinic. We also see Harley running around with what looks to be a taxidermied beaver—most likely Bernie the Beaver from the comics.

In the Harley Quinn comic, Harley is in possession of a slightly burnt, mummified beaver which she named Bernie. This beaver actually belonged to Harley's first crush Bernie Bash, and she stole it from his family after he was sent to juvenile detention.

In the comics, Harley actually talks to Bernie, and to her, Bernie talks back. No one else can hear Bernie, but when he does talk to Harley, he's usually a bit of a perv and has a very foul mouth. We don't know what his role in Birds of Prey is, but it is a neat nod to the source material.

With Birds of Prey set to come out in February of next year, it's likely we'll get our first teaser for Birds of Prey sometime later this year. My best guess is that it's released at Comic-Con in July.

Catch Birds of Prey in theaters Feb. 7, 2020.
