Birds Of Prey: Mary Elizabeth Winstead Hints At Possible Change Of Huntress' Weapon

It looks like DC's Birds of Prey will be making some interesting changes to our beloved characters. Mary Elizabeth Winstead has just hinted at Huntress possibly getting a new weapon in the upcoming DC Extended Universe flick.

Winstead recently spoke to PeopleTV about her new role as Helena Bertinelli. The 10 Cloverfield Lane star admitted that she had just received the news when she sat down for the interview. However, she had been in negotiations to take the role for a long time.

"I got the call when I was at the airport to come here, yesterday, so its super recent, but for the past couple of weeks I've been talking about it with the director and going in and meeting with different people involved with the project, so becoming more and more familiar with it," Winstead said.

The actress may have also revealed an interesting new detail when she admitted she is ready to film the action sequences. "It was great news to get. I'm really, really excited to get to learn how to use a bow and arrow," Winstead said.

This is certainly news for fans. After all, Huntress is known for brandishing a crossbow in the comic books. Although this would be a major change for the character, we'll choose to assume that Winstead got mixed up with Helena's favored weapon. Winstead has already admitted that she wasn't "a huge comic book reader."

Birds of Prey will also star Academy Award nominee Margot Robbie, who will reprise her role as Harley Quinn. True Blood actress Jurnee Smollett-Bell has also been confirmed as Dinah Lance, also known as Black Canary. The roles of Cassandra Cain and Renee Montoya have not yet been cast.

Principal photography for Birds of Prey will begin in January 2019. The film is currently scheduled for release on February 7, 2020.
