Billy Murray Confirms His Appearance In Ghostbusters: Afterlife

It's official. Ghostbusters legend Bill Murray will be reprising his role as Peter Venkman in Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

Speaking in an interview with Vanity Fair, award-winning actor Bill Murray confirmed his appearance in Jason Reitman's follow-up to the Ghostbusters classic. In fact, the entertainment news outlet spent a day with the Ghostbusters star on the set of Afterlife, taking time to try out proton packs and all sorts of props from the highly anticipated Ghostbusters movie.

Right now, there are very few details on the kind of role that Peter Venkman is going to have in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, however, Vanity Fair did note that Murray and the other veterans from the Ghostbusters film franchise were present on the set of the movie during various times of the shoot.

During the interview with the publication, Murray did emphasize one thing – that the story for the upcoming Ghostbusters sequel would deal with the absence of one of the team's found members, Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis).

"Well, we are a man down. That's the deal. And that's the story that we're telling, that's the story they've written," the actor told Vanity Fair.

Murray also said that he ultimately agreed to read Reitman's script for Afterlife, and the actor gave his vote of confidence for the upcoming movie, saying that the film has a lot of family and a lot of emotion in it.

"The script is good. It's got lots of emotion in it. It's got lots of family in it, with through lines that are really interesting. It's gonna work," Murray said.

We're definitely excited to see the new Ghostbusters movie.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is set to release on July 10, 2020.
