Jensen Ackles as Beau Arlen in Big Sky Season 3
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 44-year-old actor has joined the cast of Big Sky Season 3. The announcement comes as ABC renews the show with A Million Little Things and The Wonder Years. Ackles' character, Beau Arlen, will make his first appearance in the Big Sky Season 2 finale on May 19 and will become a regular the following season.
Who is Beau Arlen?
Beau, who was teased as the new sheriff in a recently released promo, is described as Sheriff Tubb's (Patrick Gallagher) confident and charming companion. Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who played Tonya in the second season, joins him as a Big Sky Season 3 regular.
Big Sky, which first aired in November 2020, was created by Big Little Lies creator David E. Kelley and is based on the C.J. Box book series. During an investigation into the kidnapping of two girls, detectives Cassie Dewell (Kylie Bunbury) and Cody Hoyt (Ryan Phillippe) team up with the latter's ex-wife, Jenny Hoyt (Katheryn Winnick).
Cassie and Jenny must continue their search for the elusive perpetrator after Cody is murdered, and the mystery begins to unfold before he strikes again.
Jensen Ackles in The Boys
Ackles will also appear in Prime Video's The Boys Season 3 as Soldier Boy, the first superhero created by Vaught Industries during WWII, who series creator Eric Kripke describes as "Homelander before Homelander."
"When I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream -- to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment," Kripke joked when the role was announced. "As Soldier Boy, the very first Superhero, he'll bring so much humor, pathos, and danger to the role. I can't wait to be on set with him again and bring a bit of Supernatural to The Boys."
ABC is yet to announce the release date for Big Sky Season 3.
