Beware the Jangly Man in New Trailer for Guillermo del Toro's Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

We've gotten some teasers before for Guillermo del Toro's Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, but we didn't really get a good idea of the overall story. While it kind of looked like an anthology movie filled with scary stories, a new trailer confirms that the story actually focuses on a group of teens being terrorized by a book called Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.

Here's the official description:

It's 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind...but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah's terrifying home.

If you follow del Toro, you'll know that he has a penchant for scary creatures, and that's all over this trailer. Interestingly enough, del Toro didn't direct, and this movie actually has André Øvredal at the helm. I guess when it comes to marketing, del Toro is the more recognizable name. It's kind of like the same thing with James Gunn and Brightburn.

Catch Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark when it comes out Aug. 9.
