Berserk Manga to Continue, Kouji Mori Takes Over After Kentaro Miura's Death

Berserk will be moving forward with some new chapters. Hakusensha has announced that the manga will resume serialization, this time with Kouji Mori taking over in supervising the new content after Kentaro Miura's passing.

Hakusensha shared a statement regarding Berserk on their official website. It was confirmed that the manga will first have six chapters that will go to the end of the Fantasia Arc/Elf Island Chapter and will be followed by a new arc. Kouji Mori, who had reportedly received instruction from Kentaro Miura before the latter's passing, will supervise the new chapters.

"We were reluctant to end his story without sharing these with his fans," the statement read. "Our hope is for everyone to read the last episode that we have put together, until the very last frame."

The publisher also pointed out that although Miura didn't leave any drafts behind, they intend to stay within the mangaka's vision of the future for Berserk.

"Since he did not leave behind rough drafts, it is impossible for us to create a manuscript exactly in the way he would have intended. However, we will write the manga so as not to deviate from Mr. Miura’s own words," the statement reads. "We would like to take the 'Kentaro Miura' that we knew so fondly through our conversations and work and convey this to all of you in a sincere manner."

This is great news for fans who have been worried that Berserk will remain unfinished. Although it is unfortunate that Miura will not be able to complete it himself, we are happy to know that Mori will be involved in the upcoming chapters.

Berserk's latest chapter is Chapter 364 which is titled A Tear Like Morning Dew ("Asatsuyu no Namida") and was published in 2021. The first of the six new chapters will be featured in Young Animal Issue #13 on June 24, 2022.
