Benedict Wong Wants Nightmare As Doctor Strange 2’s Villain

We might not know that much about the plot details of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness aside from the fact that the Phase 5 Marvel movie is going to be "the first scary MCU movie," but it looks like Doctor Strange Wong actor Benedict Wong wants to have a pretty strong demon as the villain of the film's upcoming sequel.

ComicBook.com just recently spoke with Wong to talk about his upcoming film Gemini Man and during the interview, the publication tried to ask him a little about the highly anticipated Marvel movie, Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness. The actor wasn't able to reveal any details, but when asked about what villain he wanted to meet in the series, Wong couldn't help but answer honestly.

"I don't really know, to be honest... I think there's Nightmare, isn't there? I don't really know that many to be honest, I just kind of allow it to appear. Whatever happens, I just allow it to happen," the actor revealed.

Nightmare is an interesting choice. A recurring villain in the comics, Nightmare usually serves as Doctor Strange and Ghost Rider's villain. The personification of nightmares, the villain is most often called the demon prince of the Dreamscape. Because of his habit of interfering with mortals, Nightmare often comes into conflict with Doctor Strange.

The villain would be a perfect fit in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which is rumored to incorporate horror elements into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to premiere on May 7, 2021.
