Marvel Cinematic Universe mainstay and Sherlock Holmes actor Benedict Cumberbatch and his family were terrorized earlier this month by a knife-wielding attacker who broke into their London home.
Knife-Wielding Assailant Attacks Benedict Cumberbatch's London Home; Actor and His Family Left "Fearing For Their Lives"
According to a report from Daily Mail (via Comic Book Resources), a man barged into Cumberbatch's London home while the actor and his family were there. The assailant reportedly kicked his way through the iron gate out front before ripping the intercom from the wall and making a series of violent threats the family could hear.
Following his outburst, the assailant fled the scene but was later caught by authorities after finding out his DNA on the intercom he spat on.
The attacker was later identified as 35-year-old Jame Bissell, a chef at the five-star Beaumont Hotel in Mayfair, and was arrested. He admitted to criminal damage at Wood Green Crown Court on May 10th but didn't reveal the reason for his shocking outburst that terrorized Cumberbatch's family.
Bissell allegedly shouted: "I know you've moved here; I hope it burns down". The incident reportedly left Cumberbatch and his family "fearing for their lives". As it stands, the attacker has been sentenced to a £250 fine and a three-year restraining order which barred him from getting near Cumberbatch and his family, or even being seen in the area where they reside.
Prosecutors claim that before the horrific incident happened, Bissell was seen buying two packets of pitta bread from a shop nearby, shouting to the shopkeeper that he was going to break into Cumberbatch's house and burn it to the ground.

A source close to the Cumberbatches said: "Naturally all of the family were absolutely terrified and thought this guy was going to get in and hurt them."
As it stands, Cumberbatch or any of his representatives have yet to address the matter. We're hoping though that this incident won't occur again.
