Ben Schwartz Will Voice Sonic the Hedgehog in Live-Action Movie

With Doctor Robotnik cast and James Marsden's role revealed, it was only a matter of time before they announced who would voice Sega's blue mascot in the Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie. Though fans are wary about the film's mix of CGI and live-action ala Alvin and The Chipmunks, they might be happy to know that the voice chosen for Sonic is a fairly okay one.

Ben Schwartz, who fans might know from Parks and Recreation, will provide the voice of Sonic, according to Variety. He joins the aforementioned James Marsden, Jim Carry, and Tika Sumpter in this video game adaptation.

Prior to Schwartz, Jaleel White was the most prominent voice actor of Sonic since most people know him as Urkel. White's Sonic career had him voice the blue speedster in the first Sonic animated series, the acclaimed Sonic Sat AM, and the odd Sonic Underground.

Since both Sonic and Robotnik are in the film, it's easy to assume that this movie will revolve around their rivalry, which is fine. Granted, the movie does have a town called Green Hill, so this won't be a 100% pure adaptation of the source material. Let's hope the people involved know what they're doing and give fans the Sonic experience they deserve.

Sonic the Hedgehog is set for release on November 15, 2019.
