Ben Mendelsohn Shares Fun Secret Invasion BTS Story With Samuel L. Jackson

If there's one thing to look forward to in Marvel's Secret Invasion, it's the return of Nick Fury and Talos. Not surprisingly, Ben Mendelsohn confirms that he and Samuel L. Jackson had a lot of fun working on the Marvel Cinematic Universe series and he shared an awesome behind-the-scenes story involving his Captain Marvel co-star.

Ben Mendelsohn recently spoke to Collider about Secret Invasion and he didn't waste any time praising Samuel L. Jackson.

"Here’s the thing, Sam is the world champion box office human. I don’t think anyone’s ever going to beat him," he said.

"To most people, Sam came out of nowhere in Jungle Fever, where he just blew us away. His place in popular culture is that he’s just the best," Mendelsohn continued.

"Once Sam has actually gotten to feel you out, I had a ball. I have a ball working with him," he added. "There are people you’re never gonna beat. You’re just never gonna beat them. Sam is just fun."

But just how fun is Samuel L. Jackson to be with? Ben Mendelsohn revealed that he and his co-star performed a duet while working on Secret Invasion.

"I sang 'Poison Ivy' on set with him, word for word. He sat there singing 'Poison Ivy'. I’ll never forget that," he shared.

"It was Samuel L. Jackson. It was f-cking awesome. I just feel very lucky," Mendelsohn stated.

"My job is to try and be as good as I can and handle as much as I can, so that it’s better and better and better for Sam," he said. "Sam doesn’t get enough credit for what he does."

"He doesn’t get enough credit or recognition. It would be hard for him to get the degree of recognition that he deserves for his mighty achievements," Mendelsohn added. "He’s done so much and he’s been so awesome, for so long. He’s a God. And he’s a cool God."

It's easy to understand why Ben Mendelsohn couldn't stop gushing about Jackson. With that in mind, we're looking forward to Secret Invasion next month.

Secret Invasion will premiere on Disney+ on June 21, 2023.
