Ben Affleck's Rehab Insurance Could Cost Him Batman Role

The saga surrounding Ben Affleck and his role as Batman has been a constant source of internet chatter ever since the reviews of Batman V Superman came out. Numerous reports keep saying that the actor is either staying or leaving, to the point that it has become a joke. However, things stopped being funny when it was revealed that Ben Affleck was going back to rehab.

According to The Wrap, Affleck's insurance for his rehab stint might be what costs him this role in the end. The report claims that his insurance could cost Warner Bros. a lot of money, which could be the equivalent of a film production. If this ends up being true, don't be surprised if we do end up with a new Batman.

Neither the studio nor the representatives of Affleck have commented on the situation so all this talk might end up being for nothing. Still, if Affleck does lose this role it sucks that alcoholism cost it instead of the actor willingly walking out. It seems like Matt Reeves' The Batman might have to do some re-casting after all.

Affleck's future as Batman post-Justice League has always been in doubt so it will be interesting to see what other DC movies get announced post-Wonder Woman 1984. We all know that a Birds of Prey movie starring Harley Quinn is being worked on and there's also a Joker film that will be set in a different universe from the DCEU, though that comes out before WW 1984.
