Ben Affleck's time in the DC Universe hasn't been the most fruitful but despite his brief stint in the franchise, the actor-director undeniably left a mark on fans as a more seasoned version of Batman. Affleck initially announced his departure from the role in 2019, abandoning his solo Dark Knight project which would later become Matt Reeves' The Batman.

In a shocking turn of events, however, the 50-year-old star would get "rehired" for two DC projects, including The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom although his supposed cameo in the latter has reportedly been scrapped.

Now, with the DCU stepping into a new creative direction under the James Gunn and Peter Safran regime, it's only obvious for Ben to seek new opportunities elsewhere and according to a new report, that just might be the case.

Twitter tipster MyTimeToShineHello claims that Marvel Studios and Affleck have been in talks over potentially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon. But nope, he's not gonna play a multiversal version of Matt Murdock aka Daredevil. Instead, he is said to play Dario Agger aka The Minotaur, a major villain in the Thor franchise.

Personally, getting cast as Daredevil's variant seems to make more logical sense, especially with the Multiverse Saga set to culminate in the next three years but hey, Affleck playing a badass villain would be great, too. It's worth noting though that his time in the DCU might not be over just yet as James Gunn confirmed that they've talked about the idea of him directing a project down the line. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Meanwhile, Thor: Love and Thunder is streaming on Disney+.
