BB-8 Has An Evil First Order Twin In Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Despite Lucasfilm's attempts at keeping Star Wars: The Last Jedi spoiler-free till the film releases later this year, interesting details about the highly anticipated sequel to The Force Awakens continue to make its way online. Showing off a new set of The Last Jedi Lego minifigures, the newest leak not only gave fans another look at the mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke, it also revealed a new droid – BB-8's evil counterpart, BB-9E.

The images which were first seen on Star Wars News Net shows off the droid as a companion to Lego's First Order Shuttle Pilot – a black ball that looks so much like the franchise's cutesy little soccer ball-shaped droid that became an easy fan-favorite in The Force Awakens.

Check out the droid down here:

Shaped so much like BB-8, the only difference with BB-9E is its darker coloring, obviously indicating that the droid is part of the First Order. Though it may seem like a pretty on the nose addition, this new droid mirrors anime's tropy black and white mascots - remember Mokona and Black Mokona from the Clamp Universe and the black and white Sailor Moon cats? Besides, if The Resistance has its own ball of beeps and boops, why shouldn't the First Order?

We can't wait to see BB-9E in action in The Last Jedi. We hope the droid gets some decent screen time in the upcoming Star Wars movie.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits cinemas on December 15, 2017.
