Batwoman is Coming to The CW's Arrowverse

Gotham City is finally coming to the CW's Arrowverse and so is one of its heroes. Not Batman but Batwoman, one of the most popular LGBT superheroes in comics. This is a bit ironic since her ongoing comic book series is about to end soon but there is a lot of time to bring it back.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Arrow lead Stephen Amell made the announcement at the CW's upfront presentation on Thursday. There will be another big Arrowverse crossover and it will lead to the debut of Kate Kane aka Batwoman, along with Gotham City. Bruce Wayne has been named dropped in the show before but no one expected to see Batwoman.

Whether she gets her own series or not hasn't been stated, though considering how packed the CW schedule is right now, it's hard to say if that will happen. Still, it'll be cool seeing Batwoman in live-action for the first time ever and we can only hope she is presented well.

The CW has had positive LGBT presentation before, thanks to shows like Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow displaying these relationships well. Granted, they aren't always written well since the CW does not know subtlety but at least they're trying. I mean, how many LGBT characters are in the MCU?

Batwoman has had a number of comic book series. At one point, she was the lead character of Detective Comics. Since then, she has had a New 52 ongoing, a prominent role in the Rebirth version of Detective Comics and even a short-lived Rebirth ongoing of her own, though it didn't last long.

This CW crossover, which has yet to be named or detailed, will premiere on December 1.
