Batman: White Knight Sequel Officially Announced

Batman: White Knight was a nice surprise from Sean Gordon Murphy. The Elseworlds mini, which is now part of DC's Black Label, impressed many with its interpretation of Batman and Joker, not to mention the other characters who made an impact. Fans were wondering when they would see a sequel, and now we know that one is coming next year.

Announced by Paste Magazine, DC Comics has announced Batman: Curse of the White Knight, the official sequel to White Knight and the second installment in the Murphyverse. This will deal with the fallout that took place after White Knight, with Joker once again a criminal and Batman realizing that he needs to find a better way to take down psychos.

The second mini-series will introduce Azrael to the Murpyverse, supposedly reimagining him. It will be interesting to see how this version of the sword-wielding vigilante differentiates itself from the ones fans are already familiar with. Murphy already impressed fans by revealing that there were two Harley Quinns, which Joker never really noticed since he didn't really care about her.

Murphy said that he will be converting one of Batman's long-time allies into a dangerous foe, which already sounds pretty interesting. The writer/artist didn't reveal which ally would be going to the dark side of course, but in this universe where Murphy is allowed free reign, it will be fun seeing him not hold back with whoever this is.

Here is the first issue synopsis:

In this explosive sequel to Sean Murphy's critically acclaimed blockbuster BATMAN: WHITE KNIGHT, the Joker recruits a savage partner to help him expose a shocking revelation about the Wayne family's legacy and run Gotham into the ground. Exciting new villains and unexpected allies will clash across history in this unforgettable chapter of the WHITE KNIGHT saga—and the truth about the blood they shed will shake Gotham to its core!

Batman: Curse of the White Knight comes out in 2019.
