Batman Fans Campaign For the New Warner Bros Discovery to #MakeTheBatfleckMovie

Following the success of the fan campaign to get Warner Brothers to release the Zack Snyder cut of the 2017 Justice League, fans are once again trying to get the newly formed Warner Bros. Discovery to have Ben Affleck's Batman in a film. Affleck backed out of directing and acting in a Batman film in January 2019.

Fans had an earlier fan campaign that got the #MaketheBatfleckMovie hashtag trending back in April 2021. However, it was before AT&T had launched WarnerMedia and merged it with Discovery. This led to the formation of Warner Bros. Discovery. The merger made fans give the social media campaign another try.

Affleck previously returned to do some reshoots for Zack Snyder's Justice League. He will also appear in the upcoming The Flash movie. Barbara Muschietti, who is a producer of The Flash, stated that there are many stories and things that the actor has said about having a hard time playing Batman. It is a pivotal role, but it also has a fun part in it.

Other fan campaign hashtags that didn't draw as much success as #ReleasetheSnyderCut include #ReleasetheAyerCut and #ReleasetheSchumacherCut. The Ayer cut is the Suicide Squad fans trying to get WB to release the David Ayer's cut of the 2016 version. Batman Forever fans also tried the studio to release Joel Schumacher's cut of the film. Both campaigns have yet to achieve their goals.

Matt Reeves' Batman movie starring Robert Pattinson is set to come out next year. While it may seem like this will come into conflict with Affleck's possible return. However, Andy Muschietti's The Flash film starring Ezra Miller will establish a Multiverse in the DCEU which means that having two Batmans will be possible.
