Batman and Mister Miracle Writer Tom King Will Co-Write DC's New Gods Movie

DC's New Gods are some of the most beloved comics around so when it was announced that a movie based on Jack Kirby's iconic characters would be made, fans were pretty hyped. There hasn't been much news on the film and who would be starring in it, though we know that Wrinkle in Time director Ava DuVernay will be helming and writing the project.

Turns out that she's co-writing the film with one of the best comic book writers in the industry and someone who has plenty of experience with The New Gods; Tom King. Yup, the Eisner Award-winning writer known for his runs on Batman, Mister Miracle, and The Vision will be writing this film's script with DuVernay.

It was DuVernay herself who confirmed the news on Twitter, expressing excitement to see what King will come up with. Anyone who has read King's marvelous Mister Miracle series will know that he is a perfect candidate for this movie since the 12-issue maxi-series was jam-packed with characters, references, and lore about The New Gods.

Considering how beloved these characters are, fans are hoping that DuVernay and King do them justice through this live-action movie. The fact that there are so many characters does make this adaptation tricky, though having a central protagonist like Orion or Mister Miracle would do wonders.

No release date for The New Gods has been announced.
