Batgirl Movie Will Reportedly Set Up Black Canary Film

We're getting some exciting updates on the highly anticipated Batgirl movie. A new leak may have confirmed that the HBO Max flick is going to be connected to another DC project that is currently in development. It looks like Leslie Grace's awesome new film is going to set up the Birds of Prey spin-off focusing on Black Canary!

The premise of Batgirl is still a huge mystery considering that the movie is still in development and for now, details are being kept secret. There have been speculations that the project will explore Barbara Gordon's backstory. Interestingly, some new information seemingly confirms it will also serve as a jump-off point for Black Canary.

The leak comes from RPK News who didn't cite their source but points out that there are whispers about Batgirl's connection to Black Canary. Either way, it's great news for fans who have been hoping that Barbara's story is set in the same universe as Birds of Prey.

In the comics, it was Barbara Gordon and Dinah Lance who started the Birds of Prey team that would later include Huntress, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman. However, it is important to note that by the time they form the team, Barbara has already taken on the title of Oracle. If this is the storyline that Batgirl is leading to, it could mean a major tragedy for Barbara.

Of course, there is still a possibility that the movies will follow the DC Rebirth storyline where Batgirl and Black Canary are working with Huntress. This is an exciting possibility since it could mean the return of Mary Elizabeth Winstead's Helena Bertinelli. However, the Kate star has not yet been confirmed to show up in Jurnee Smollett's film so we'll have to wait for more updates soon.

Batgirl and Black Canary are still in development. However, both films are expected to premiere on HBO Max. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
