Batgirl Movie Adds Bad Boys For Life Star Jacob Scipio In Mysterious Role

It looks like Batgirl is slowly and surely moving forward. After the release of the film's first concept art, the HBO Max project just added another cast member. Bad Boys for Life star Jacob Scipio has just joined Leslie Grace in the upcoming DC Extended Universe flick.

Deadline confirms that Scipio has joined the cast of Batgirl. Although his role is still undisclosed, there are speculations that he could play Barbara Gordon's love interest or one of the main villains. Either way, being a part of the movie is going to be an awesome break for Scipio.

Scipio is known for his work on Bad Boys for Life where he played the main villain Armando Aretas who is later revealed to be Mike Lowery's son. His latest project other than Batgirl is the Netflix series adaptation of Karin Slaughter's novel Pieces of Her.

So far, there haven't been a lot of details revealed about Batgirl. However, there is a good chance that the film will explore Barbara's origins as well as her relationship with her father Commissioner James Gordon. The movie might also adapt one of Batgirl's comic book arcs. Hopefully, we'll be learning more about the project soon.

Batgirl will be directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah while Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson will pen the screenplay. The film will also star J.K. Simmons as James Gordon, a role he originally played in Zack Snyder's Justice League.

The movie is still in early development and has not yet started filming. However, the first concept art featuring the DC comic book heroine was dropped at DC FanDome this weekend.

Batgirl has not yet been given an official production start date nor an official release date. However, the film is expected to stream exclusively on HBO Max. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
