Baron Mordo to be the Main Villain of Doctor Strange 2?

Back when director Scott Derrickson was still in charge of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it was teased that Nightmare would be the main villain of the film, but with Derrickson out and a new synopsis teasing a "friend-turned-enemy", a lot of people have started to think that the main baddie that we somehow forgot existed.

As speculated by multiple people online, it's possible that Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) could be the main villain this time around. His fall was teased way back in the first Doctor Strange movie, and we have yet to get an update on what he's been up to ever since 2016.

Of course nothing official has been confirmed, but it does seem like the logical progression when it comes to the Doctor Strange franchise. At some point, I'm curious if the decision to include Mordo was something that contributed to Derrickson's exit due to creative differences.

Personally, Mordo ended up kind of a forgettable character, and that's I didn't think of him when the "friend-turned-enemy" description came out. Though he's been a rival to Strange in the comics, all he really did in the movie was spout exposition and act devastated. I'm hoping this sequel will at least try to make Mordo more interesting. If you ask me, they should have just saved the main clash for the last movie and had Nightmare be the main baddie.

We don't know what the future holds for the Doctor Strange sequel, but Multiverse of Madness is still slated for a release on May 7, 2021.
