The third episode of Masters of the Air follows a group of unlucky men who embark on the Regensburg mission. This mission tasked them to fly deep into the territory of their enemies so they could drop bombs on them.

They were supposed to fly really close to a German ball-bearing factory base in Regensburg. After dropping the bombs, they were supposed to fly to Algeria so they could land.

Unfortunately, things didn't work in their favor as the weather conditions lessened their number. This allowed the German planes to badly damage the troops and lead to the tragic death of many of the 100th members.

One of those fatalities in this mission was a ball turret gunner who was known among his peers as Baby Face.

Sergeant Hinton is remembered by the people of Ohio. He was declared a casualty of World War II on August 17, 1943.

He joined the US Army on November 12, 1942, as a replacement with a new crew on the B-17. It was his first mission.

Their plane was hit by a flak, which knocked out their engines. Despite the explosion that left a hole in the wing, the plane kept going. But as the pilot gave the order to jump out, they had no other choice.

Eight of the crew members were able to jump out. Unfortunately, Sergeant Hinton's parachute got stuck, which left him on board the doomed B-17.
