Babu Frik Almost had Creepier Look in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

There is little doubt that Babu Frik is the cutest new face that was introduced in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. However, the adorable little scene-stealer didn't really start out a cuddly character. The early concept art for Babu has revealed that he almost had a creepier look.

The Rise of Skywalkerconcept art was shared by artist Luke Fisher on his official Instagram account. Although the first two images don't' look so bad, you will want to check the shocking third illustration. Swipe through the post below to see all pictures.

"Early Babu Frik explorations," Fisher wrote before adding the hashtags #theriseofskywalker #starwars #creature #creaturedesign #conceptart and #conceptdesign.

Can you imagine that huge bug working on C-3PO while the other heroes stand around watching? Personally, I don't mind bugs but I understand how the third image can be disturbing for people who aren't big fans of creepy crawlies. Needless to say, it's a good thing that the early concept art was scrapped in favor of a more adorable look.

Babu played a small yet important part in The Rise of Skywalker as the one character who was able to extract the Sith text from C-3PO's memory. He was portrayed by Shirley Henderson, who believes that the character could play a larger role in future Star Wars projects.

What did you think of Babu's original looks? Would you be comfortable with a bug-like creature tinkering with Threepio's memory? Sound off in the comments below.
