Avengers: Infinity War Writers On Why Sharon Carter Wasn't Included

While fans were pretty pleased with Avengers: Infinity War as a whole, many were sad that some of their favorite secondary characters didn't appear. Valkyrie and Korg seem to be the most missed but some have also pondered on the fate of Sharon Carter, who we last saw in Captain America: Civil War.

During an interview with Collider, Infinity War writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus revealed that Sharon was in the original draft for the film but was cut since they felt that her scene wouldn't have added much to the story as a whole.

Apparently, had her scene stayed, we would have seen her living with Steve Rogers in an apartment and trying to make their relationship work. Though it would have been an interesting development for Steve, who didn't receive much screen time in Infinity War, it does feel a bit unimportant compared to everything else.

"Sharon Carter was a victim of what we came to realize as we were writing it. Which is that if you're writing scenes that set up people before the story has gotten to them such as Steve and Sharon trying to make it work in an apartment, they're gonna go because the movie does not have time to catch up ‘previously on the life of Steve Rogers.'"

Infinity War did give screen time to a few couples, such as Tony Stark and Pepper Potts, Vision and Scarlet Witch, and Star-Lord and Gamora. However, all of these scenes were vital to the film's overall story and it's easy to see why Steve and Sharon's time was cut.

Fans will be able to purchase Avengers: Infinity War on July 31 for digital buyers and August 14 for those that want it on Blu-Ray.
