Infinity War Directors Explain How The Gauntlet Physically Damaged Thanos

If Avengers: Infinity War proved anything, it's that Thanos is an unstoppable force that no one can take on by themselves (aside from Thor). The mad titan was able to kill half of Asgard with only one Infinity Stone, proving that he was already quite the beast by himself. No one knows how they will be able to beat the Mad Titan when Avengers 4 rolls along next year, though one of the Infinity War writers has some ideas.

Christopher Markus, one of the co-writers of Avengers: Infinity War, discussed taking on the villain in the film's artbook. Considering how Thanos has all of the Infinity Stones in his Infinity Gauntlet, there's no way beating him will be easy. Markus does suggest an interesting strategy; taking away one or more of Thanos' stones from him. I'd suggest the Time Stone so he won't be able to reset reality.

However, Markus seems to be ignoring how Thor's new hammer, Stormbreaker, can deflect the full-fledged might of the Infinity Stones. During the film's climax, Thor throws Stormbreaker at Thanos and it completely deflects the full might of all the stones without any trouble whatsoever. Sadly, Thor "didn't go for the head" and Thanos was able to snap his fingers and change reality.

Expect Thor and the rest of the Avengers to get their revenge on Thanos, albeit with a cost. It can't be too bad if it's bringing back Spider-Man and Loki, two of the only confirmed characters returning in Avengers 4.

Avengers 4 comes out on May 3, 2019.
