Avengers: Age of Ultron established somewhat of a mutual relationship between Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow and Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner. However, Hulk left for Sakaar, resulting in the two not seeing each other for a few years. Some fans were excited for the pair to finally get a heartfelt reunion in Avengers: Infinity War, but only exchanged some hellos in the film. And as it turns out, Infinity War nearly explored Natasha and Bruce's relationship.
During ComicBook.com's Quarantine Watch Party for Infinity War, writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely answered some of the fans' questions about the movie. When asked if they thought of having a scene where Bruce and Natasha would catch up, McFeely revealed that they shot one for the film, but it didn't make the final cut, "as did anything that wasn't on the stone plot." As with any other big films like Infinity War, there were multiple versions of the script where there could have been so much more different things that took place. Of course, given the premise of the movie, it came down to just including those that revolve around the story of the Infinity stones.
While it was disappointing for some to not be able to see the two catching up in the movie, it only makes sense that the scene got left at the cutting room floor, given that there was hardly enough time for other scenes that weren't related to Thanos' plan. That said, it still would have been nice to see some type of closure between the two, considering Black Widow's fate in Endgame.
