Avengers: Infinity War Has Biggest Box Office Opening of All Time

It wasn't too surprising when Avengers: Infinity War made a ton of money during the Thursday previews. What actually is surprising, however, is Infinity War not only making more money on the weekend but getting the highest box office opening of all time. This goes to show how the Marvel Cinematic Universe has taken Hollywood by storm.

According to Variety, Infinity War has made $640.9 million in total thus far, beating Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Fate of The Furious, which is amazing. China hasn't even been included yet, so it will be interesting to see how much more money this massive crossover film will continue to make.

The story of Infinity War has been built up since 2012's The Avengers, where Thanos appeared in the mid-credits sequence. No one expected to see the Mad Titan at the time, though it is sad that the epic "court death" like wasn't followed up on. Still, the Thanos we ended up with was an awesome villain and is clearly in the upper echelon of Marvel baddies.

Marvel isn't done making money this year, with Ant-Man and The Wasp slated for release this July. One has to wonder how much bigger Marvel's 2019 will be, with Captain Marvel and the unnamed Avengers 4 coming out.

Avengers: Infinity War is now showing in theaters.
