If there's one thing that people weren't very happy about in Avengers: Endgame, it was the fact that the film didn't show how Bruce Banner and the Hulk merged to become Smart Hulk. However, it looks like that scene should have been featured in a different movie. A deleted scene from Avengers: Infinity War reveals that the merge was supposed to happen during the Battle of Wakanda.
In Infinity War, the Hulk only appeared in the first few minutes. His refusal to emerge became a running gag in the film although fans were understandably hoping that he would eventually show up during the climactic battle. Interestingly, a deleted scene from the film has confirmed that this was supposed to happen.
The deleted scene was featured in the Infinity Saga Box Set and it features a completely different thing happening while Banner in the Hulkbuster armor faces off against Corvus Glaive (via Comicbook.com). You can read the transcript of Banner's conversation with the Hulk below:
Banner: "Big Guy, I know we're having some issues here but if you're gonna appear at any moment now would be a good time"
Hulk: "No! Banner only want Hulk for fighting!"
B: "So what? You like to fight!"
H: "Banner hate hulk!"
B: "I don't hate you! You're more of an Avenger than I am. I love you!
H: "No you don't! Hulk just wanna live!"
B: "I wanna live too, man! I wanna live too!"
H: "Me too!"
B: "So let's live. We'll live and let live!"
H: "Live and let live!"
B: " Okay I got an idea."
At this moment, Corvus strikes them but he is stopped when the Hulk's arm emerges from the armor. Smart Hulk is stunned that they have merged and later looks at himself in the water.
It's awesome to know that Smart Hulk was supposed to be a major reveal in Infinity War. Unfortunately, that's a moment that you will only see if you get the Infinity Saga Box Set.
