Avengers: Infinity War Concept Art Showcases Iron Man’s Fighting Chops On Titan

Marvel fans could help but gush when they saw Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) debuting one of his most advanced Iron Man suit to date – the shape-shifting, nanobot-powered Bleeding Edge armor - in Avengers: Infinity War. There were a lot of pretty great moments where Iron Man used his nanobot-enhanced suit to his advantage in the film, and now, Infinity War concept artist Phil Sanders gives fans a cool look at an early version of one of the coolest Bleeding Edge moments in the movie.

Posting on his ArtStation Profile, Saunders shared an early version of one of the major action sequences featuring Iron Man's Bleeding Edge armor in Infinity War. In the latter part of the film, Iron Man, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and a handful of the Guardians of the Galaxy come face to face with Thanos on the planet of Titan. During the battle with the Mad Titan, Stark attacks Thanos heel first by having his feet come together to transform into a battering ram powered by pulsating energy.

"A keyframe from the battle on Titan," Saunders wrote on the post. "Since I rarely have the opportunity to do keyframes on any Marvel projects, I decided to show my weapons concepts for the Mk 50 in context as moments from the movie, a task made easier by having completed a detailed zBrush model of the suit. With many of the weapons being intricate, complex and integrated into the suit, it was critical that I sculpt them as well rather than just doing paintings. With the bulk of the work done, it was then fairly straightforward to pose, render the model in Keyshot and then paint over into a scene. Many of these moments were inspired by the excellent work already done by the pre-vis department."

Now, with Avengers 4 on the way, fans can't help but wonder what kind of updates Tony Stark might put in place. The Avengers are going to need all the resources and help that they can get in their mission undoing the dusty massacre that Thanos inflicted on the universe in Avengers: Infinity War because the fight definitely isn't going to be easy.

Avengers 4 hits cinemas May 3, 2019.
