Avengers: Endgame’s Joe And Anthony Russo Reveal Their One Major Regret

Joe and Anthony Russo have been doing very well with their two-part Avengers movie. Not only has Avengers: Infinity War become the highest-grossing film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the film's upcoming sequel, Avengers: Endgame, has also been named the most highly anticipated film of the year.

Now, with their two-story project finally coming to an end soon, Joe and Anthony reflect on everything that they had to go through for this massive undertaking. Speaking in an interview with Cinema Blend, the directorial duo revealed one of the things that they would change if they could go back in time and work on Infinity War and Endgame again.

"We wouldn't shoot them back-to-back," Anthony told the entertainment news outlet.

The Russo brothers had very little time to rest in between projects while working on Infinity War and Endgame because production for both films ran one after another. Of course, while there was only a very short time between the two productions, Joe and Anthony regarded the films very differently despite the fact that Endgame serves as Infinity War's sequel.

"I think the challenge for all of us was finding the balance between the two films," added Anthony, "Because each film is so complex on its own that sometimes considering both of them was a bit overwhelming. So we looked for opportunities in the process to separate the two so that our brains could be fully focused on the narrative. While the films have a connection, as the Marvel films do, they are distinct stories."

They certainly do. Based on the trailers for Endgame, the follow-up to Infinity War seems much darker than the original, and much smaller too. With half of the living population of the universe gone thanks to Thanos, it's up to Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and the rest of the surviving members of the Avengers and the Guardians to undo the Mad Titan's massacre.

Avengers: Endgame premieres April 26, 2019.
